Our Meal Planner is both easy and intuitive to use.
What does it do:
Different people have different portion/calorie requirements to maintain a healthy weight. The British Nutrition Foundation (amongst others) have an (averaged) calorific requirement for different ages and sexes. Our meal planner calculates these for your specific family members and allocates the correct portion sizes in your recipes/dishes. This is very much your meal planner for you and your family, with this in mind our dishes range from the extremely basic to exotic, with easy to cook, more complicated to cook, or just go to the shops and buy meals. You can even have the odd takeaway (remember everything in moderation). You don't have to embrace the 'cook seven meals a day' approach from day one, if ever!! The Meal Planner is fully flexible to fit around you and your lifestyle.
Your planner: Your lifestyle: Your way!!
You will see that the dishes are colour coded (see sample below, click on it to expand). As a rule of thumb, if you are in the yellow then you are eating approximately the correct amount of calories for an average person of your age/sex. Greens will mean you are marginally (or more) under, and the amber and red over. So, if you want to (gradually) lose weight, keep in the greens.
We also make an allowance within the age ranges (teen upwards) for 'hidden' calories in Tea, Coffee and some drinks, so as long as you drink a reasonable amount of them, you are still within your average requirements.
Feed The Tribe does not believe in ‘fad’ diets, but a longer (lasting) approach to sensible weight management. If you have the occasional red, that’s your choice, likewise don’t panic if you have the occasional green. It is your choice after all!!
The Meal planner will then calculate your shopping list based on your specific requirements, this is bespoke to your family choices for that week and shows you exactly what you will need. As long as you follow the plan there should be no waste, either food or money!!
You then get to print your family planner for the week, print your shopping list and then print any recipes/portion sizes for the meals that you have selected.
Variety is good, but more importantly everything in moderation is our philosophy.
